[Sorry, post in English] International Meeting Act 2?

Beitrag von alargeau »

Hallo German guys!

Wie geht's?

So, I'm sorry for speaking English in a German forum, but the people who know me know that my German is as good as your Chinese... 0!! Sorry for that.

If I post here in German territory, that's because we French frogs organized a meeting and we talked a lot about you. So, the French 309-fans told me I'm in charge to let you know what they said. Please don't stop reading, it's good news. :lachen:

So, first of all, they don't want you to think French people are not reliable and say "yes" when they mean "no". No, French people are just French... ^^
The main critics I got from your events is that you don't let people enough time to arrange everything. As a French guy pointed it out, our club always organizes events at least 6 months before the event. People need to ask for days off at their jobs, arrange with their families (etc.) and they need time for that. I really had the impression people were sorry for not coming, but they want to tell you that it's not that easy to come and if they are aware of an event 2 months before, they are simply not able to take days off.

In short, we want a real Act 2, we want an International Meeting number 2 whether it's in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium or Uruguay. But please, think about slow French people and slow administration and tell us a long time before the event.

If you want to contact me, please do so by PM or email, whatever you like. Our team of volunteers is also available anytime to help you organize something.

We wish you all great summer holidays and we hope we'll meet again!!

Tschüss,
Aurélien

Bonjour Aurélien,

nice to read this!
I think, in fortune meetings will be better and earlyer organized, I guess, Mixery and Schnuffel can tell you more about it.
But you should know, that´s just also a problem, if meetings are very early planed.
That will mean, that many people first say "yes", but they say "no" just a couple of weeks before the meeting.
Maybe they got problems at work, or in the family, to get 2-3 days off, problems, witch were unknown at first.
That´s, because the time and life is so pretty fast in our days, you know, what I mean?! ;)
But it´s nice to know, that the frenchs are interested in our meetings!

Au revoir

Thanks for your reply.
I understand the point. When we organize a meeting, a "yes" means money in our pocket. Usually, we open subscriptions long before the meeting so we can also close them at least 2 months in advance. This enables us to let everyone know how many people are coming (hotel, etc.). Plus, you need to communicate about the meeting and it takes a long time to let all people know a meeting is planned. Some people don't visit a lot forums, some never do, etc. Of course there will always be people who say yes and then no, or people who don't want to spend a whole day driving in their car. But I think the real difference is that in Germany it seems you can organize such meetings freely without paperwork. In France, we plan sometimes everything one year in advance because we have to declare meetings in every region the cars are driving. So, it's a lot of paperwork and it's a lot of time. I assume you don't have that problem in Germany.
Anyway, French people are indeed interested in 309 meetings. And since the International Meeting in France, where people were so nice, they also would like another meeting where people could meet again. That's what Europe is all about!

Hallo Aurélien,

it's good to hear from you again.
As P309GT Injection has already told you there ist some project in "pre-organization" that may take place in 2014 her in Germany. But yet there are no details that are confirmed.
On behalf of our old contact feel free to send me an email or PN to get further informations as soon as they are available ...

Best regards

Hallo Schnuffel!

I'll try to think about contacting you before the end of the year. We're organizing a second meeting in Poissy where we will visit the museum and hopefully talk to some old guys who worked on the Peugeot 309 project so I think I won't forget to contact you because after a meeting everyone is very excited to meet again. You certainly know the feeling. 8-)

I go a lot to Poissy since it's my 2nd home and they have fantastic cars... they don't expose because the museum is Simca-Chrysler oriented (so Talbot, etc.). I saw a C28 which was brand new but left Poissy two weeks ago to go to Sochaux. In the museum itself, they have a 309 GTI and a 309 Turbo (this car is so impressive to drive!!!!), the rest is Chryslers, Simcas and Talbots.
I know a lot of people there, so I will try to invite old people who developed the 309 project so they can tell us more about the 309 because they have very interesting stories, and I will also try to get a visit of the factory where the DS3 and 208 are being produced but it's very difficult. Of course, if you are available and willing to drive to Paris, you're more than welcome.

Hello Aurélien,

that is a very good idea! I will try to come, but I´m afraid of driving in Paris ;) . It would be nice to meet you again, our last meeting is 3 years ago...so it would be nice to see you, your brother and your beautiful Japanese GTI again.

Yes, I think also it would be nice, to visit Poissy.
But I´m also, like Thomas, afraid to drive in Paris with my lovely 309. :grübel:
I know about frech traffic and how french people are driving.
They don´t care about if there will be a little carambolage, we germans love our cars in an other way and it would be a desaster, if there would be a little scratch in our wonderfull old cars ... ;)
Maybe it would be less danger to go by train to paris. :auslach: :auslach: :auslach:

Poissy - what a great idea! :klatsch: :klatsch:
But - as the others said before - there is the problem of cruising through Paris an I myself am not amused if my brave 309 would get any damage :heul :heul ...
But please let my know if you have got another idea of getting there ... :grübel:
Thanks
